Moose Hunt 2007

Yes, we're finally back, Actually we've been back for just over a week and had an awesome time. The worst part was heading back to work. I feel so refreshed.
I guess we were one of the lucky ones, seeing as we're hearing that not too many people were able to even see one. We actually filled both our tags. And I've decided that yes I can handle doing that again.
Northern Ontario is absolutely the most beautiful countryside I've ever seen. Now I can see why my husband wants to move there. So peaceful!
So I've included a few pics here. Which is just the icing on the cake.

Do you know it's less than 10 weeks till Christmas! That's a terrible thought. But this year I'm ahead of the game. I've already finished some of my shopping.
But tomorrow is the big day. I'm officially going moose hunting for the first time.
Something I never ever thought in a million years would ever do. But, it just proves again that women can do this, and hopefully I will have pictures to prove this.
So, this is my last post before I leave because I won't have time tomorrow
Have a wonderful 2 weeks!

The Hunt

Well, the season has arrived and in a couple of days I will be on vacation. Now some of you might not call it much of a vacation because I'm not heading anywhere warm. Instead I'm heading north.
The year of my first moose hunt has arrived and our house looks like a bomb has hit it. Making lists and checking them twice seems to be the thing around here. Can't forget anything because of course we're so far away from home and civilization, you can't just run to the corner store.
I don't know who is more excited, my husband or me. He's excited because of course he's determined that I will shoot my first moose. Me, I'm just happy to be getting away. Getting away from everything and spending a couple of wonderful weeks with my husband with no one else around. Just to see more of our wonderful country is enough for me.
So, hopefully, I'll be posting some truly awesome pictures when we get back so you can share what I experienced.

Opening of the Hunt

What an opening this was a couple of weeks ago. I wait for this all year round, and the morning of the open of goose and duck hunt, there's my girlfriend Chris and my husband and myself, up at 4am getting into our gear. The early morning hours just don't seem to bother you when you know what the outcome can be. Even if you are up till midnight the night before, the excitement just overwhelms you. It's my favorite hunt I guess you could say. Probably because it is such a sociable hunt. You don't have to stay quiet and still like you do with deer or moose hunting.
So there we are, with coffee in hand, heading out the door anticipating our prize. Just seeing the world and hearing it wake up is almost enough. Especially where we go on the river. And it was especially super this year, because it was the first time my girlfriend got out with me instead of her husband. So, that just did it for both of us. We left daddy home with my god daughter this year.
The morning wasn't that great, not a lot of shooting going on anywhere. But we were still able to get some.
But then, the evening shoot was even better. Chris didn't go with us in the evening so it was just my husband Jay and myself that went out. We went to a different spot, and it was worth it. We literally limited out for the three of us because of what we got in the morning. It was absolutely fabulous. Along with that, we both shot a couple of banded geese, which is a feat in itself.
An opening to remember!

No title, just updates

Boy oh boy, I've really got to get my butt in gear. I thought it would be cool to be up with the times and have a blog, but not getting much done on it.

Hubby is home now. Actually came home early, and already going stir crazy. But then he is not one to sit still for very long. And with me at work everyday, provides him with lots of time on his hands. At least he's getting back at renovating our house, which by the way, has been under renovations for 6 years now. It's hard to believe we've lived here that long. I just might have my new windows in before the snow flies. Yes I said it, SNOW!!!! Considering it snowed in northern Ontario last week, I'm sure it's not that far away from us.

Getting ready for our Moose Hunt now. One month away, and we're already gathering stuff up to take. Actually looking forward to this. My first time to go, and we'll see if I continue to go. Jay says that it's my turn to shoot Bullwinkle. We'll have to see. The last couple of times I've been out shooting, I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. Mind you, he made a target that's slightly smaller than the area that I need to aim for. Will post pictures once I'm back, but that's still a month away.

And then when we get back, J&K Meats will be in full open capacity. The bow hunt will have already been in full force, and the gun hunt starts the next day after we get back. So, we'll be pretty busy. More late nights and early morning. Oh well, as my grandfather always said, "Got to keep the money coming in".

August 20/07

As I sit here contemplating about going into work early, I thought I should get back on here. Mainly because my sister had asked if I blogged recently. I'm not the best blogger that's for sure.
With my husband away for the summer, you would think that I had more time to do such things.

Jason came home for a week and a half for a visit at the end of July and it was truly heavenly. With nothing planned, we still didn't get to do everything we wanted to. Maybe we should have had a schedule. And now I'm on my own again but he will be back first of September which is earlier than we thought.

As well my favorite pastime, scrapbooking, has taken a backseat. I'm finally getting my mojo back as my gal friends at SBO (Scrapbooking Online) which of course is the BESTEST scrapbooking site around, would say. And so I'm back into that. Along with knitting sweaters for, yes I will say it, CHRISTMAS! It is only about 4 months away you know. This year I plan on being ready early. But then I say that every year.

Christmas, now there's a topic we all don't want to discuss right now. So I'll have to leave that for another time.

Summertime

I really shouldn't forget about this thing. So far this summer has been busy. My darling husband has decided to take a job way up north in northern Ontario, as a fishing/hunting guide. And, therefore, it's made for a quite long summer so far for me. But, as a trooper, I'm making it. The good news is, he's coming home for a week. For a break, if you can believe it.
So, now I'm busy getting ready for that. I've been doing a lot of cleaning and sorting since he's been gone. Why is it always easier when they aren't at home to do that? HMMM!
I thought I had lost my mojo when it came to scrapping, but as fate would have it, I've got a huge project I'm working on that I have a little bit of time to complete. I can't go into it, just in case a certain person reads this. But once it's done, I'll be displaying pictures.
I hope everyone else's summer is going good. I'm sure keeping up with the kids is a priority for most of you.
Enjoy!

Long Time, No Blog

Yes I realize I've been really neglecting this as of late. I was so excited to be "up with the times" by creating my own blog, and then I don't really do anything with it. I need to "show it some love"!!
It's been a long couple of months. And there are good things and not so good things happening, depending on how you look at it.
Good thing: They have figured out what it wrong with my head. Do not say this word 3 times fast. "Chronic Paroxysmal Hemicrania" Unfortunately, I have this now for the rest of my life and there is nothing surgically they can do about it. Which, I guess, with the amount of operations I've had, is a good thing. However, I will be taking meds for the rest of my life. And because of this I've now got release to return to work because we have the pain under control (sort of).

Now the bad news (sort of). My wonderful husband Jason is leaving me for 4 months. He has accepted a job in Northern Ontario (Minaki) as a fishing/hunting guide. Leaves in May and returns in September. I'm so proud of him but of course have reservations that are totally selfish. But you only miss the ones you truly love. So for the next 3 months we will be spending every free moment together. Not that we don't already.

So that's the update. Maybe I'll be able to keep this updated now.
Oh, and as for the New Years resolutions....... BAH HUMBUG!

New Years

I've sort of been neglecting this lately. I was so excited about being up with the times by getting my own Blog, and here I haven't done anything with it in a couple of days.
I guess I'm just pondering over my resolutions. And, about my goals for this year.

Goal 1: Lose weight ( that's on a lot of peoples list)
Goal 2: not to dwell on the past
Goal 3: challenge myself everyday (not just in my scrapbooking)
Goal 4: spend more time with my family and not be such a hermit (don't laugh)
Goal 5: not to make too many goals that you can't accomplish them....

I believe that we all need to make goals. How else will we make it in life or make ourselves better. We need to challenge ourselves, otherwise I don't think we will grow socially, emotionally, or physically.
So that is my challenge to you. Make some goals, and don't be upset if you don't reach them too fast. It takes time. It took a while to get us where we are today, but we can always grow more. And I don't mean physically.
